Welcome to Riverway Rowing Club

Riverway Rowing Club is located on the scenic banks of the Ross River in Townsville North Queensland.

The Loam Island Community Centre on Riverway Drive Rasmussen houses our fleet of modern boats and is the venue for training, weekend social gatherings and regattas.

Rowing is for everyone

Rowing is a low impact and low load bearing sport suitable for anyone over the age of 12 . 

Our club has a diverse mix of men and women of all ages, fitness levels and rowing ambitions.  Membership for those under 18 is only via affiliated school rowing programs.  

We strive to make our club welcoming, supportive and fun for all who want to row.  

Riverway Rowing Club has rowing programs and competitions to suit everyone, take a look:

  • Come and try - 2 'try-rows' before you commit to membership or 'learn to row'; you can’t say no until you have tried it
  • Learn to Row - for anyone from the age of 18 to those enjoying retirement
  • Social rowing - for those wanting some exercise while enjoying being on the on the beautiful upper reaches of the Ross River ....... followed by a coffee / tea
  • Competitive rowing - training programs and club support for those seeking the challenge of competing in local and North Queensland regattas
  • Elite rowing - coaching and club support for members wanting to compete at State and National championships
  • 'Rowing travel' - participation in events such as Head of the Yarra, Head of the Tweed, World Masters....and potentially many others...is encouraged and supported by the club when there is sufficient interest.
  • Home of Townsville Grammar School Rowing and Ryan Catholic College Rowing.
  • Corporate Learn to Row / Team Building - gather your co-workers and learn a new skill or challenge each other

The club has a great range of good quality boats availble for use by members - both skulls and sweep, singles to eights.
